“JOALDUNAK”
This experimental short film is both a visual and sound exploration, as well as a tribute to this deeply rooted Basque tradition.
The Joaldunak are traditional figures from Basque folklore. Dressed in traditional costumes, they wear bells on their backs, which they make resonate as they walk. Their role is to chase negative spirits and announce the arrival of spring. I wanted to reimagine their rituals in a creative way.
